Elmira Resident Seeks Seat On Lane County Board Of Commissioners
10/6/2009
By Angela Kellner

A senior engineer at the Eugene Water and Electric Board announced his intention to run for the Lane County Board of Commissioners. Jay Bozievich began circulating petitions Tuesday to get his name on the May ballot for the West Lane County seat. He says the Board of Commissioners is a progressive clique that votes in lock step with what Eugene’s power brokers want.

Jay Bozievich: “The elitist group refuses to establish community-focused priorities. They refuse do what it takes to attract quality employers. They refuse to encourage a sustainable level of growth. They refuse to take steps to combat public safety problems that can destroy our community from within. They refuse to cooperate with virtually anyone outside of their band of cronies.”

The current West Lane Commissioner Bill Fleenor said in a statement to KLCC that he has until March 9th to decide if he will seek reelection. Fleenor said taxpayers pay him to do his job, not run a campaign. Educator Anselmo Villanueva has indicated his intention to run for the seat. He could not be reached for comment.
