Eugene neighbors near goal of saving meadow
11/12
By Rachael McDonald

A neighborhood group in South Eugene is trying to save a two acre lot of open space. the “Save Madison Meadow” effort still has a ways to go. Madison Meadow is in the Friendly Street neighborhood. It’s part of an old orchard and is well-loved by local neighbors. Doug Yook is with “Save Madison Meadow”:

Doug Yook : “It’s a great place…”

Four years ago, the owner of the meadow put it up for sale. Locals came together to buy the land themselves.  They made the 220 thousand down payment on the land which was priced at 450 thousand dollars. Now, they’re working to raise funds for a balloon payment.  If the group successfully meets a challenge grant they’ll have 58 thousand dollars still to raise by December 31st.
