Heroes at Home
03/03/08
By Nick DeMarino

Heroes at Home, LLC, a new internet-based business allows soldiers to purchase flowers, gifts, and cards before they’re deployed.  The packages are delivered throughout their tours of duty.

Katie Dyer, the founder of the Monroe-based business, started the company because of her own experience trying to keep in touch with her husband, an Army Captain stationed in Afghanistan

Dyer:  “He doesn’t live on a base, he lives in a village and so we don’t get to talk very often.  And I just realized how lonely that is and how it doesn’t make me feel very close to him to not hear from him for weeks at a time.  There’s [sic] so many other families in this country that are in the same situation that I am, so I wanted to do something to make them feel more connected when they have to be apart.”

Soldiers can buy up to twelve months of deliveries.  Men and women already serving abroad can purchase services online as well.
