The filing deadline for Eugene city offices is Thursday, March 6, at 5 p.m.  The office of mayor is up for grabs along with four city council positions and three seats on the Eugene Water & Electric Board.

Candidates must file with the Eugene recorder, Mary Feldman before collecting twenty-five signatures from registered voters.

Feldman says that the primary determines what names will appear on the ballot in November…

Feldman:  “It’s unusual for there to be two candidates in November because if one candidate gets more than fifty percent of the votes in may, than that is the only name that goes on the November ballot, and that’s pretty typical.”

There are seven candidates running for mayor, which may result in multiple names on the ballot in the fall.

The deadline to file for county, state, and some city offices is March 11^th at 5 p.m.
