EWEB Reaches Out to West Eugene Residents
6/11/2008
By Jes Burns

The first stage of construction on EWEB’s new Roosevelt Operations Center will begin about a week.  The Utility held a public meeting for Bethel and Danebo [dane-ah-bo] residents last [Tuesday] night to answer questions about the project.

KLCC’s Jes Burns reports.

Reporter:

A small group of neighbors attended the forum where site designs and construction plans were revealed.  EWEB officials spoke about conservation efforts connected to the project, but they also spoke frankly about photovoltaics and green roofs that were cut because of budget concerns.  Susan Stansbury and her husband were among the neighborhood attendees.

She says they just moved to the adjacent neighborhood and didn’t know anything about the project.

She said she liked EWEB’s commitment to communicate with neighbors – and that many of their concerns were assuaged.  Other neighbors raised questions about lack of LTD bus service and the hope that the community would have access to the green space on the site.

For KLCC News, I’m Jes Burns.
