Men Must Lead in Sexual Violence Prevention

Jackson Katz is a renowned expert on gender violence prevention. He is an educator, author and filmmaker. He’ll be speaking in the EMU ballroom at the University of Oregon on Wednesday evening at 7:30. Katz is the Director of the first Worldwide Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention Program in the United States Marine Corps. He also started the Mentors in Violence Prevention or MVP program at Northeastern University in Boston. KLCC’s Jacob Billings asked Katz about the program.

Bill Mastrosimone

KLCC’s Rachael McDonald speaks with playwright Bill Mastrosimone. He’s the author of “Bang Bang You’re Dead” which deals with school shootings.  His new play “Winner by Submission” also tackles the subject of youth and violence.

 

Students at Springfield’s Academy of Arts and Academics are performing “Winner by Submission” at the Wildish Theater Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 and Sunday at 1 pm. The Sunday performance is a benefit for the Center for Community Counseling.

Truffle Festival Brings Food Lovers to Eugene

Oregon is the center of the truffle universe… at least in North America. And this is the time of year when the culinary delicacy is at its prime. Foodies from around the state and beyond will gather in Eugene this weekend for the Oregon Truffle Festival.   

KLCC’s Rachael McDonald spoke with organizer Leslie Scott. Scott says while a truffle is a mushroom, it’s unlike any other.
