August Heat Wave Hits Oregon

Many Oregonians will be experiencing a heat wave this week. The hottest days will be Wednesday and Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the South Willamette Valley and *excessive heat watches for Bend and Roseburg. Jon Bonk is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Portland. He says a high pressure system will bring very warm temperatures to the region.
“Temperatures along the south valley are going to be pushing up against 100 degrees and then temperatures east of the Cascades will be in about the 100 to 104 degree range. Folks looking for some relief, it looks like their best bet would be to head high in the Cascades and / or over to the coast.”
Bonk recommends people find cool, shady places to spend their time. Also drink plenty of water and limit outdoor exertion.
