City Club of Eugene's Friday’s Forum program series presents Meet the Candidates! Bethel and Eugene 4J School Boards. This is an opportunity to meet those who be making important education decisions for the Bethel and 4J Schools Districts. Each candidate speaks about their values and beliefs for children’s education as they seek 4 year positions on the Bethel and 4J School Boards. The priorities of school board members are a key factor in determining how the districts cope with funding limitations, diversity, school facilities, hiring and many other issues that directly determine how prepared Eugene’s future generations will be. This is an opportunity for City Club members and others, via a member, to ask candidates directly where they stand on the current hot button topics in education.
In addition, school boards are often the starting place for state and local political careers so noting those with political talent and aspirations is helpful in determining community support for other offices in the future.
