Saturday people in Oregon and all over the world will take part in a demonstration against climate change.

Organizers of Rise for Climate says 2020 is a tipping point for meeting global targets to tackle the climate crisis. They’re urging leaders to step up and build renewable energy systems to end reliance on fossil fuels.
Sandra Clark, of the group 350 Eugene is helping organize the event locally.
“We are already now facing the effects. We are in climate change now. And it’s time to take action. It’s time to take real strong, solid action for the future. The window is closing and we are encouraging people to stand up and ask for 100% renewables.”
There are Rise for Climate events planned in Roseburg, Corvallis, Salem, Portland, Coos Bay and South Beach Saturday.
The Eugene event includes a rally, speakers, and teach-ins. It begins at 1 o’clock at the Campbell Senior Center
