Douglas County DA: No Criminal Charges To Be Filed In UCC Mass Shooting

Douglas County officials have released records from the investigation of the 2015 Umpqua Community College Shooting. Investigators concluded that the shooter acted alone in killing nine people on the campus.

The evidence includes interviews with the shooter’s mother, who described how the 26-year-old had a long history or psychiatric problems. She told detectives that her son had amassed 13 guns with money from selling video games and possibly money she gave him.

The evidence also includes the shooter’s manifesto. It’s a rambling and racist diatribe in which he describes himself as quote “the most hated person in the world.”

The shooter’s mother said that he had been an angry person all his life, and said doctors even described him as an angry baby.

The shooter killed himself, after his nine victims, in a confrontation with law enforcement. Prosecutors determined that there would be no criminal charges following the investigation.
