Ducks Out, But Beavers Still Alive In NCAA Baseball Post-Season

Scobel Wiggins/Oregon State Athletics

Both Oregon and Oregon State’s baseball teams played in NCAA Regional tournaments this weekend.

Because of Oregon State’s number 1 rank, the team hosted their post season regional.  But the home crowd couldn’t deliver a perfect weekend for the Beavs.  OSU won their opening game against North Dakota State, but then dropped their second to UC Irvine.  The Beavers came back and won their next two games against UNLV and UC Irvine.

OSU’s Jeff Hendrix, a Corvallis native, went 4 for 4 in Sunday’s win.

Hendrix:  “Just from the get-go, it felt so much different from the other day.  You could just feel the energy in the crowd and the energy in our dugout.  Yeah it was a lot of fun out there today.”

The Ducks did not fare as well in their Regional.  The U of O squad traveled to Nashville, Tennessee for their games.   The Ducks were eliminated in the Regional final with a 3-2 loss against Vanderbilt.

The Duck’s season is now over, but OSU will play UC Irvine again Monday night in Corvallis for the opportunity to move on to the Super Regional.
