Recent incidents of strangers stalking teens have Eugene Police asking for tips.
Late Tuesday afternoon at Cal Young Skate Park, a 15-year-old boy noticed a man watching him and his friends. The man blocked the exit and invited the boy to come closer. When the boy ran away and jumped a fence towards the intersection of Gilham Road and Crescent Avenue, the man pursued him. Eventually the man went back to his car - a white Hyundai with a black hood – and drove off.
The man is described as white, 5-foot-10 with heavy build, with dark balding hair done in a buzz cut. He wore corrective glasses, a white tank top, and black and red basketball shorts.
In another incident last Friday, several Sheldon High School students reported suspicious behavior from a middle-aged man. One student says he followed her from school until she veered away. Another student says he approached her in a Bi-Mart parking lot and asked if she needed a ride. She walked away towards some nearby students.
That man is described as white, with grayish-brown facial hair, a partially bald scalp, and a “beer belly”. He’s driving an older model van with tinted windows and metallic paint job.
Eugene Police say they’ve contacted a man matching the description. No charges were made as no crime had been committed.
