Kent Enters Commissioner Race To Unseat Bozievich

Nora Kent

A Lane Community College educator is challenging incumbent Jay Bozievich for the West Lane Commissioner Position, District 1.

Nora Kent filed this week with the Lane County Elections Office. She’s with the college’s Adult Basic and Secondary Education program, and a community organizer.

Kent says Bozievich is vulnerable, given a tight re-election in 2014. She says she’d be more receptive in the role.

“We need leadership on the commission that is empathetic to the rural Lane County as well as the suburbs," Kent tells KLCC.

"And while we need the commissioners to listen to the people, I want to be able to foster civic participation and the initiative process rather than silencing it.”

Kent adds she supports backpack spraying of pesticides in Lane County forests over aerial spraying. She says she can work across the aisle on jobs, health care, and public safety. She has family in Deadwood and Santa Clara.

Junction City author David Goldberg is also running for the seat.
