Lane County Commissioners Will Face Challengers In May Primary

joeberney.com

Incumbent Lane County Commissioner Sid Leiken has a challenger. All together, three board seats are in contention in the May Primary.

So far,Joe Berney is the only candidate who has filed to challenge Commissioner Leiken. Berney, 64, recently retired from a career that included work with clean energy and labor unions. Berney says Lane County needs good jobs for working people.
Berney: “That pay living wages, that offer good benefits, which includes health care and retirement, so there’s a lot less anxiety about the present and the future.”
Berney wants the Lane County Board to be more responsive to the community.
Commissioner Jay Bozievich, who holds the West Lane County seat on the board, has one challenger too, David Goldberg of Junction City.
Cottage Grover Gary Williams, appointed last year to the East Lane Board seat, is running for the position in the May primary. Kevin Matthews and Heather Buch have also filed to run for the seat. James Barber has formed a campaign committee to run for the East Lane Board seat.
