LTD Offering Free Rides To Vets On Opening Day Of New VA Clinic

Desmond O'Boyle

The new Veterans Affairs Medical Clinic opens to the public Monday (today). In an effort to get vets the care they need, Lane Transit District is offering free service to the facility. Passengers simply need to tell their bus driver they are going to the new V-A Clinic to receive an LTD day pass. Andy Vobora is the Director of Customer Service and Planning for LTD.

Vobora: "LTD has a pretty rich history in working with the veteran in the community both through our Medicaid program, the para-transit service we provide through Ride-Source and on our fixed route service through our half-fare program. So, over the years we've done free rides on Veterans Day."

LTD expanded route 12 – Gateway in September, which drops passengers off right in front of the VA Clinic. The new medical center will eventually be able to serve more than 90,000 patients per year.
