Lane County has announced its new performance auditor.

Pending approval next Tuesday by the Board of County Commissioners, Casey Creer will begin in March.

Crear succeeds Shanda Miller, who held the position since 2015.

Crear has worked for the City of DeSoto, Texas, the Denver Counseling Center, and the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Lane County spokeswoman Devon Ashbridge says Crear’s selection follows two national searches.

“We are hopeful and expectant that Mr. Crear’s experience auditing and doing a variety of other kinds of reporting and evaluation, both for municipal and government entities, as well as private entities, serves him well here in Lane County.”

A performance auditor evaluates how well county programs and services are rendered, and how well legal requirements are met. The position reports to the Board of County Commissioners.
