ODF Hosts Discussion Sessions On New Forest Management Plan

Oregon Department of Forestry

The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) is drafting a new plan to better manage timber harvest, recreation, and wildlife habitat.

They hope the Alternative Forest Management Plan (AFMP) will address budget challenges and bring in more timber revenue to fund the state forestry division and schools and community service projects in Oregon. Currently, ODF is collecting proposed ideas for the plan from advisory committees. They will host a series of information sessions to discuss the AFMP. ODF's Tony Anderson says he looks forward to the public bringing their input to the discussion table.

Anderson: "It's not a formal hearing process where you have folks sitting at the front of the room and you have audience. This is everyone around the table talking about what they feel and their feelings on forest management in their back yard."
