More than 13,000 fans were at Hayward Field this weekend for the Prefontaine Classic.

Kirani James won the 400 meters Saturday in the event, pulling away from a strong field.
James, the 2012 Olympic champion from Grenada, and American rival LeShawn Merritt ran side by side on the final curve before James turned it on, finishing in a world-best 43.95 seconds, two-hundredths of a second faster than the time he and Merritt ran at the meet this year.
James won that race as well and holds a 9-5 edge against Merritt.
British Olympic champion Mo Farah surged down the final stretch to win the 10,000 meters at the Prefontaine Classic Friday night.
The 5,000 meters came on the 40th anniversary of the final race of the same distance run by the event's namesake, Steve Prefontaine. The legendary runner was killed in a car accident at age 24 early the next morning.
