Road Crews Use Window Between Storms To Clean Up

Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).

As road crews work to remove debris from last night’s heavy winds and rain, a transportation official urges Oregonians to rethink travel plans. A second wave of strong weather is expected to arrive late tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

Angela Beers-Seydel is a spokeswoman for ODOT.  She says gusts and rain are expected to be even stronger Saturday, limiting visibility, traction, and access along many roads.

“If you don’t have to go anywhere this weekend, don’t,” says Beers-Seydel.  “Your best place for storm watching is going to be your nice, cozy, home.  Because this one could be even more severe than the one we saw last night. It has that potential.”

Beers-Seydel adds a landslide last night south of Yachats closed up part of Highway 101.  She says crews are working to have the mud and debris cleared out of its northbound lane by early afternoon.
