Shots Fired On Bailey Lane - Police Responding

EPD

Eugene Police are responding to reports of shots being fired this morning at the 2900 block of Bailey Lane.

In a press conference held this morning, EPD Lt. Jen Bills says a man was taken to a hospital after being shot.  EPD and a bystander were able to administer aid until Eugene Springfield Fire EMS transported the victim.  A male suspect was seen driving a small white sedan - possibly a Toyota Corolla or a Chevy - and the entirety of Bailey Lane is being treated as a crime scene.

The most recent update as of 11:11am today, says that Monroe Middle School, initially on LOCKDOWN, is now in LOCKOUT and the school day is continuing normally inside the building.

Sheldon High School and Buena Vista Elementary School are also on LOCKOUT.

St. Paul’s lockdown is being released.

It does not appear that the shooting involved Monroe Middle School, but happened outside the campus.  Bills says the suspect and victim "probably" knew each other, so it's not a random act.

Lt. Bills asks parents of students to please stay clear of the Bailey Lane area as forensics experts and a K-9 unit from Lane County are present, trying to gather evidence and find articles relevant to the shooting.  The EPD and 4-J School District are discussing ways to conclude the end of the school day.

Some local media have reported that two people were taken to the hospital.  No confirmation has come yet from the EPD as to whether this is the case, and if so, what the people's conditions are.
