Snow Piles Up At Oregon's Ski Areas

The National Weather Service says Oregon’s Cascade Mountains are at 105 percent of normal for snowpack at this time of year. That’s making snow enthusiasts happy.

Hoodoo Ski Area near Sisters was only open for a handful of days last year because of a lack of snow. This year is different.

Williams: “Our guests are very happy and excited to be enjoying the slopes and the snow again after having two years basically off.”

Leif Williams is VP of Marketing at Hoodoo. He says they’re expecting 1 to 2 feet of snow before the weekend. Saturday is forecast to be partly sunny.

Williams: “Sounds like a perfect powder day for sure.”

The National Weather Service says this winter’s weather is pretty typical for Oregon. Other ski areas including Mt. Bachelor and Willamette Pass are also open and snowy.
