Springfield Man Arrested For Blasting "Hate Is Good" During Anti-Hate Rally

Springfield Police

A Springfield man was arrested Thursday evening for disrupting a rally against hate speech.

According to police, James, or Jimmy Marr installed a very large amplified speaker on the rooftop of his home near Willamalane Park where the rally was underway. Michael Carrigan, Director of Community Alliance of Lane County says his group organized the event, knowing they were near the 63-year-old’s house. Jimmy Marr, (who’s twitter handle is genocideJimmy), has anti-Semitic signs in front of his house and on his vehicle. Marr blasted a looped message through his rooftop speakers that said “hate is good”. Carrigan says that’s the message the rally was hoping to combat.

“We were a respectful distance from him. We were just saying, ‘Hey Jimmy, we’re doing it. We’re speaking out for diversity in our community.’ Got him worked up and he got nailed by the police. Very satisfying.”
Marr was arrested for disorderly conduct and lodged in the Springfield Municipal Jail.
