A man was shot and killed by Lane County Sheriff Deputies early Saturday morning after he reportedly came at the deputies with a large knife.
The shooting happened after deputies initially responded to a report of a dispute between a man and woman in the Row River Road area in Cottage Grove at around 10pm, but were unable to locate them.
Around 1am, deputies were called back to the residence and used a loudspeaker to try to get the man to come out of a building on the property. Deputies say he came out and advanced on them with a knife, and that’s when they opened fire.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released. The incident is being investigated by the Interagency Deadly Force Investigation Team.
