The design team for Camas Ridge Community Elementary School in Eugene has created three warmer, more welcoming options. It’s in response to community criticism of a near-final plan from late October. A survey of the new choices, which include brickwork and some larger windows, is available online until December 12th.
Eugene 4J School District District Chief of Staff Kerry Delf said public feedback will, quote, “inform” the district’s final decision. She said the polling window is short so the construction timeline won’t be affected, however, she told KLCC, “The design changes will increase the cost of the new school building, which already is seeing increased costs from the pandemic, and supply chain and staffing issues."
Camas Ridge is the last of three 4J schools being rebuilt with funds from a 2018 bond measure. It’s expected to open in fall, 2024.
