Washington Lawmakers Hope For Good News In Early Revenue Forecast
Washington’s 30-day special session is more than half over and there is still no sign of a budget deal.
Lawmakers will get a fresh set of revenue projections Monday -- the result of the June revenue forecast being moved to May. But whether the news will be rosy enough to break the logjam over the budget seems unlikely.
House Democrats and Senate Republicans are at odds over how much to spend and whether to raise taxes.
Last week, the two sides took to Twitter to criticize the pace of budget talks. In one Twitter exchange they couldn’t even agree if they’d met to negotiate.
The current two-year budget expires June 30.
