Oregon Signs Court Brief Against Executive Order

Oregon Department of Justice

Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum has signed a court brief in support of Washington state’s effort to block President Trump’s executive order on immigration.

A federal judge granted Washington’s request for a temporary restraining order against the administration’s effort to sharply limit who can enter the country last week. A judge will decide this week if Washington’s lawsuit can move forward.

The attorneys general sent their letter of support today (Mon). Rosenblum and the other A-Gs claim the immigration restrictions are hurting medical care, international students and tax dollars in their respective states.

Oregon is also coordinating with Washington state officials to possibly join the lawsuit. If a judge allows that, Rosenblum says Oregon’s legal resources could be used to support the action directly.
