Wildfire officials working on the Archie Creek Fire, east of Roseburg, said they contained 10 percent of the 121,379 acre fire.
Officials said access was limited due to smoke and blocked roads. Thick smoke grounded air operations while fire crews and the Oregon Department of Transportation worked to get Highway 138 east open for fire traffic.
Highway traffic between Milepost 17 and the junction with Highway 97 remain closed for public use.
Officials say large tracts of private and federal timber lands continue to be threatened, as well as electrical transmission lines. As of Sunday morning there were 539 personnel assigned to the fire with additional resources expected to arrive later that day.
