Eugene’s Bethel School District has scheduled COVID-19 vaccination clinics for the newest eligible age group, 12 to 15 year olds. The clinics next week will also be a chance for older teens to get their second shot.
Brooke Cottle is director of the Bethel Health Center. They’re managing the student vax clinics. She said the local response to vaccinating tweens and young teens has been positive.
“I’ve had students who have said they are very excited to get their vaccine for protecting their family member, they’ve got someone at risk. And others who just really want to get back to normal life.”
The Bethel Health Center has offered the Vaccines for Children program for many years. Cottle said it was a natural extension to be the COVID-19 vaccine provider for the school district.
They plan to vaccinate 700 Bethel students over three days next week. The clinics will also receive 16 and 17 year olds who need their second and final dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
The vaccine clinics will be staged at Willamette High School and open to age-eligible students currently enrolled in Bethel School District
- Tuesday, May 18, 9:00 – 11:30 am
- Wednesday, May 19, 11:00 am – 5:30 pm
- Thursday, May 20, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

The Pfizer vaccine requires a second dose 21 days after the initial dose. The second appointment will be set when students arrive for their initial vaccination.
