Thanksgiving holiday weekend traffic is expected to be heavier this year across the nation.
I-5 in Oregon’s Willamette Valley is likely to be packed on Black Friday with shoppers.
And, there’s also a big football game Saturday between the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers. Lou Torres is with Oregon Department of Transportation.
“You know we have the Civil War going on later in the afternoon but then we also have the carry-over Friday into Saturday of the shopping on Black Friday. In particular, the premium outlet stores around the Woodburn area. Those always attract a lot of people.”
Torres recommends that people pack their patience in addition to snacks for the drive. The Oregon State Police plans to have extra patrols around Woodburn and there will also be more cops on the road in Eugene for the Civil War football game.
