City Club of Eugene: Oregon House District 14 Candidate Forum

House District 14 represents the communities of West Eugene, Bethel, and Junction City. This year’s candidates make the race for the position of state representative most unusual: neither is an incumbent, although both have local political experience.

The Democratic nominee is Julie Fahey, currently the state Party Treasurer and formerly the chair of the Democratic Party of Lane County. She grew up in a small town in Illinois and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with majors in chemistry and anthropology. She moved to Lane County in 2009. For the past 16 years, Julie has operated Three Point Consulting, a human resources consulting company serving private sector businesses. Julie was an officer in the local P.E.O. chapter, which provides educational opportunities for women, and a mentor for underserved youth on mountaineering trips.

The nominee from both the Republican and Independent Parties is Kathy Lamberg. Raised in the River Road area, Kathy graduated from North Eugene High School and Lane Community College, and then earned a degree in psychology summa cum laude from Northwest Christian University.  Her masters degree is in theology, and she teaches Ancient Greek in private practice. She holds board positions in several organizations and is actively involved in Habitat for Humanity. She serves on a citizens’ advisory committee for Lane Regional Air Protection Agency. Kathy has run for local office previously.

The format of the Forum includes position statements by both candidates, questions from City Club members, and closing statements. KLCC's Tiffany Eckert moderates.
