In anticipation of the general election in November, the City Club of Eugene welcomed Julie Fahey and Rich Cunningham for the Oregon’s Fourteenth State House District Candidates Forum. This was an opportunity to learn more about both candidates The Lane County League of Women Voters provided the format and helped to select the written questions and kept the time. KLCC’s Tiffany Eckert moderated the forum
Democratic Candidate
Julie Fahey is passionate about issues related to economic opportunity for all Oregonians – including policies that help working families, create living wage jobs, support seniors in their retirement, reduce class sizes, and improve high school graduation rates. She also served as the Chair of the Democratic Party of Lane County from 2012 to 2014. In the Oregon legislature, she currently serves on the House Committees on Business & Labor, Economic Development & Trade, and Higher Education & Workforce Development, as well as the Ways & Means Subcommittee on General Government.
Republican Candidate
Rich Cunningham is currently serving his second term four-year term as a Director on the Bethel School Board. During his time on the School Board Rich has gained a reputation of speaking out for the interests of working class families and those who can’t speak for themselves. Rich has raised his kids, coached high school baseball and softball, and helped to oversee the replacement of two outdated schools, the construction of a new science wing at Willamette High School and the establishment of a working farm at Kalapuya High School.
