Dawn Lesley Files To Run for Lane County Commissioner

Dawn Lesley

The spring of 2022 may seem far away, but Eugene resident Dawn Lesley is eyeing the May primary election. She’s filed to run for Lane County Commissioner, position one.

Jay Bozievich is the incumbent for the seat, representing western Lane County. Lesley told KLCC she is no longer content to watch others lead in a time she feels more needs to be done to address Covid, climate change, lack of affordable housing, and other issues.

“But I think the thing that most endangers us now is our current inability to talk with each other and work together across political and social divides,” Lesley said. “That concerns me very, very much.”

Lesley ran for the same seat in 2014 and says she came within 100 votes against Bozievich. Lesley is an engineer who works on sustainable energy and water projects.

Jay Bozievich has not yet filed to run for reelection.

In related news, Heather Buch, who holds position 5 on the Lane County Board of Commissioners, has filed to run for re-election in the May 2022 primary.
