DeFazio Wishes To Engage Oregonians On Iran, Global Warming, And Infrastructure

President Trump’s war powers, ongoing climate change, and infrastructure development are among the topics Congressman Peter DeFazio hopes to discuss at some upcoming town halls in Oregon this week.

The Democratic Representative says he’s particularly worried about Donald Trump’s increasingly aggressive stance with Iran.  DeFazio worries he could throw the United States directly into war with the Middle Eastern nation.

“So I want to talk a little bit about what I’m trying to do on war powers to constrain the president, and explain to people what’s wrong with the existing law, why he might be able to launch that attack and claim he has legal basis.”

DeFazio has legislation out aimed to increase Congress’ war powers. It’d require presidents to gain congressional authorization before deploying U.S. troops.

DeFazio’s town halls are in Corvallis and Albany this Wednesday, followed by a Eugene event Thursday.  Specific information below:
