Democrats Plan For Productive Session

Re-Election Campaign

The Oregon legislature goes into session Monday with a Democratic majority in both houses.

House Majority leader Val Hoyle represents House District 14 which includes West Eugene and Junction City. She says she wants the state to re-invest in education and expand opportunities.

Hoyle: "We want to make sure that workers get a fair shot whether it's a state-wide sick-leave policy, which you know I personally think is better than a patchwork set of laws or looking at retirement security or, you know, just in general insuring that people that work full time shouldn’t live in poverty."

Hoyle says addressing climate change is also a priority. She's proud of the New State Hospital in Junction City which opened for tours this week. Hoyle says she worked hard with a lot of people in the community to get the hospital built.
