Detectives Recover Galago Primate Used As A Tip For Prostitute

Eugene Police Department

Eugene Police have recovered an exotic monkey from an out-of-town prostitute. A local pet store owner allegedly gave the Galago primate named Gooey to her as a tip. Last month, E.P.D. received information of burglaries at the Zany Zoo Pet Store in West Eugene. A laptop, Girl Scout cookie money and the monkey were reported missing. Store owner Nathan McClain allegedly paid the prostitute with store funds… and the primate. EPD Detective Rick Lowe gathered surveillance on the store in March.

Lowe: "This is my first time ever recovering a monkey from a prostitute. And I've worked prostitution for eight and a half years, so this is my first."

Lowe says McClain was arrested on April 14th for prostitution and is lodged at the Lane County Jail. Gooey the monkey is safe and being cared for at a nearby sanctuary. It is illegal to possess and exotic animal in Oregon without a license.
