Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccine On The Way To Lane County

Center for Disease Control and Prevention

Public Health announced Tuesday the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will arrive in Lane County this week-- perhaps as soon as Wednesday.

Lane County Public Health spokesperson Jason Davis said he was told by PeaceHealth Oregon Network of the impending delivery.

“That’s good news that our hospital staff will be taken care of-- Those who keep us safe and healthy,” he said. “And our skilled nursing facilities, long term care facilities, are also on that first round of vaccinations. And I’m happy to report that 100% of our skilled nursing facilities have enrolled to receive the vaccine.”

With the majority of outbreaks now in senior care facilities (47%) -- Davis said immunizing the health workers will not only keep them healthy but also minimize the risk of transmission.

Lane County saw 117 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday and five new deaths, all residents of long-term care facilities.
