The City of Eugene will host the 9th annual Sunday Streets event this weekend in downtown Eugene. People are encouraged to come out and walk, ridem and roll in a strip of downtown blocks that are completely closed off from car traffic.
Eugene’s Transportation Programs Coordinator Kelsey Moore says that the open streets event will host activities for all ages.
“Sunday Streets 2018 brought about 11,000 people into the downtown event, and we’re hoping for even more,” says Moore. “The event runs rain or shine, but that might affect the numbers for our 2019 event. We’ll still have all the performers out, all the booths, the live music and food trucks, so it’s still a great event.”
She says that each year, the event is placed in a different neighborhood. This year’s activities will be held in downtown’s Monroe Park, Kesey Square and the Park Blocks.
Note: The City of Eugene's Public Works department organizes Sunday Streets; they are also a financial supporter of KLCC.
