FOOD for Lane County has received a notable donation to help stretch food stores during the COVID-19 crisis. A 53-foot semi-truck, full of nonperishable food, was delivered courtesy of area members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
The church, which has approximately 10,000 members in Lane County, operates a program called Latter-day Saint Charities. They provide aid and services in times of disaster. When extra food is produced by the church, it is donated to organizations around the world. In this case, it’s FOOD For Lane County.
The food bank will coordinate and distribute the donated items to Lane County residents in need.
