"Eug" Parade Will Revive Eugene Traditions

City of Eugene

A storied Eugene tradition is coming back with familiar themes this weekend. The “Eug” Paradeis part of Eugene Sunday Streets downtown.

It will feature human-powered floats, community groups, even royalty. Debbie Williamson-Smith is former Slug Queen Holly Go-Slugly.
“The queens will be in the parade and some of the queens are members of Eugene’s infamous Rickies, which are also making a return.” Williamson-Smith says, “So some queens might not be marching with the queens but they’ll be there in spirit.”
Eugenians may remember the Rickies for their popular entries in the Eugene Celebration Parade, a now defunct city tradition. The event begins at 10:30 Sunday morning with a pet parade at Monroe Park, then continues downtown.
