Eugene 4J School Board Announces Finalist for Interim Superintendent

Eugene 4J School District

On Tuesday, the Eugene 4J School Board announced Cydney Vandercar as the finalist for interim superintendent for next school year. Vandercar currently serves as the district’s Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services.

The Lane County native has worked in the district for nearly 30 years. 4J school board chair Anne Marie Levis said Vandercar was the finalist chosen from many qualified candidates.

“Ms. Vandercar has a long history with the 4J district, starting her career as a substitute teacher and moving up through instruction, administration and operations,” said Levis. “The depth of her understanding of our district and her caring for our kids, educators, staff and community will be a stable force as we enter this year of change and opportunity.”

Pending approval from the school board, Vandercar will be the second woman to serve as the 4J superintendent since the district was founded in 1854. The board will vote tomorrow on approval of Vandercar’s appointment during their virtual school board meeting.

Public comments can be emailed to board@4j.lane.edu with “Public Comment” in the subject line, before the board meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
