Eugene Bans Plastic Bags & Styrofoam Containers

OSPIRG

The Eugene City Council approved a ban on single-use plastic bags and Styrofoam containers Monday. The vote was unanimous.

The bans take effect January 1, 2020. Students from the University of Oregon and Lane Community College had testified in favor of the change, citing the effect of the products on wildlife.

Eugene’s ban adds it to the list of Oregon cities who’ve already done so, including Portland, Ashland, and Medford.
