The campaign for Eugene’s Civic Park reached a new milestone in its fundraising last week.
The Eugene Civic Alliance (ECA) reached the 80 percent milestone of its $26 million phase one goal. Once the goal is met Civic Park contractors can break ground on the new park facilities.
The campaign launched in the fall of 2014 after the ECA purchased the Civic Stadium site from the Eugene School District. Since then, the project has consistently hit fundraising benchmarks.
According to Nancy Webber from the ECA, the project has seen support from donors across the state of Oregon.
“People really want to see kids have places to play and right now we are very crowded in the use of our space in Eugene," Webber said. "So adding four indoor and two outdoor basketball courts, plus the field, will significantly help meet the demand.”
The campaign has raised $21.3 million of its $35 million total goal and hopes to break ground in late summer or early fall 2018.
