On Friday, University of Oregon students led a memorial for victims Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, 2 black men killed by policemen last week. About 300 protestors marched down 13th Avenue, chanting "Black Lives Matter."

Detective Jed McGuire is President of the Eugene Police Employees Association. He says the shooting deaths of 5 Dallas police officers are an unfortunate reminder theirs is a dangerous job.

MCGUIRE: "There's been no direct threats related to any of the incidents to Eugene Police Department or intel on that. It's just, be extra aware, be extra cautious."

McGuire says the community's support in recent days has meant a lot. He says members of the department's honor guard detail will attend the Dallas officers' funerals.
