Update: As of Friday morning, the Stouts fire is at 6,000 acres.
A new fire in Douglas County has prompted evacuations near the community of Milo.
The Stouts fire was spotted at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon and has grown to about 6-hundred acres. Kyle Reed is a spokesman for the Douglas Forest Protection Association. Reed says the fire moved quickly up a hillside in an area that has burned before.
Reed: "This fire's burning in a mixture of a young stand of trees, old growth trees in a fire scar condition from previous fires that's burnt through the area. So there's a mixture of young plantations, older trees, snags, basically everything in between."
The Douglas County Sheriffs office has issued a level 3 evacuation for homes on Ferguson Lane, Stouts Creek, and Conley Lane. Multiple rural fire crews are on the scene.
The state has issued an air quality advisory for Douglas County due to smoke from area wildfires.
