First Death To COVID-19 In Lane County

Health officials are reporting what they say is the first suspected death from COVID-19 in Lane County. The 60-year old woman died Saturday, March 14th at PeaceHealth Medical Center in Springfield. 

She was brought in experiencing cardiac arrest. After her death a test was done for Coronavirus and sent to the Oregon State Public Health Lab. It came back positive for COVID-19, Tuesday evening. The woman reportedly lived in the Eugene Springfield area and was not in an assisted living facility. The Medical Examiner will determine official cause of death.

The Health Department will alert the community if a public exposure point is identified. They will alert individuals who have had contact with the deceased woman.
