Former Student Sues Springfield School District Over Abuse

GoogleMaps

The now-adult victim of years of sexual abuse by her high school principal is suing the Springfield School District and its former superintendent for 5-million dollars. The suit was filed in federal court on Monday.

Portland attorney Barb Long represents the victim, who remains anonymous. She says she filed the lawsuit to hold the district accountable and change policies so this can never happen to another student.
The lawsuit names the former superintendent Nancy Golden and Roger Jordan then-HR director of the district.
Long says her client decided to file the lawsuit after Springfield police contacted her in their investigation of A3 Principal Mike Fisher.
Long: “She was ready to take this secret to her grave. She hadn’t told her parents. She hadn’t told her husband. She hadn’t told anyone. She had buried this awful ordeal until a detective called her early this year and asked her a direct question about it and she responded truthfully.”
Fisher started grooming the victim when she was 14 years old and a student at the Academy of Arts and Academics in Springfield. He sexually abused her for years. Fisher committed suicide on February 1st after police started investigating allegations of abuse. [I’m Rachael McDonald reporting.]
