Freezing Rain Expected To Come Back To Eugene This Week

A winter storm watch is expected to hit the Eugene area tomorrow morning.

First will be snow or sleet early Thursday, transitioning to freezing rain by mid-day.

Laurel McCoy of the National Weather Service says it’ll be a good time to stay off the roads.

“Even those 4-wheel drive vehicles aren’t going to have traction," McCoy tells KLCC.  "Even if you end up not slipping around that much, others will be slipping around, so it’s going to be a pretty treacherous time to be out on those roads so if you can, stay home.

"If you absolutely have to go out, chains do help a little bit.”

Overnight lows will be in the 30s.  Temps will climb into the upper 40s by Friday afternoon, with rain causing much of the remaining ice and snow to melt.
