Gov. Kate Brown has agreed to at least five debates this fall with her Republican challenger, William "Bud" Pierce, as reported by The Oregonian.

These debates will happen in bigger cities around the state, starting in Bend.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Bend, September 24 (Sponsored by Society of Professional Journalists, The East Oregonian, Jefferson Public Radio and KTVZ-TV)
  • Portland, September 30 (12 p.m., sponsored by Portland City Club)
  • Eugene, October 6 (Sponsored by League of Women Voters and Oregon Public Broadcasting)
  • Medford, October 13 (7 p.m., sponsored by KOBI-TV and KOTI-TV)
  • Portland, October 20 (7 p.m., sponsored by KGW-TV and The Oregonian)

Brown was criticized earlier in the summer for not participating in a debate that is traditionally considered to be the first of the season.
