Impeachment Matter To Enter New Phase In December

Dec 3, 2019

The House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing December 4th, to determine next steps regarding President Trump’s alleged abuse of power.  If articles of impeachment are drafted, a Senate trial will likely happen in early 2020.

U.S. Democratic Congressman Peter DeFazio says Senate Majority Republicans will debate among themselves as to how to proceed in that instance.

“Whether they should just do a one day trial, and get it out of the way, or whether they should do a real lengthy trial and interfere with the presidential prospects of a number of the Democrats, or whether they should do a two-week trial," DeFazio tells KLCC.

"And that will enough for them to try and confuse people enough about the issue, and then they will vote to not convict.

"That’s pretty clear that the Senate is gonna vote on a partisan basis.”

President Trump and his allies say no quid pro quo was arranged in his July 25th call to the Ukranian president.

Witnesses say Trump offered continued military aid in exchange for a probe into former Vice President Joe Biden’s family.
