Landslide Destroys Bridge, Threatens Homes In Lincoln County

Lincoln County Sheriff's Office

A landslide on Sunday evening destroyed a bridge and threatened several homes in rural Lincoln County.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said the slide took out a bridge on Fall Creek Road, just north of Highway 34 near the border with Benton County. No one was injured, but several homes downstream from the slide were evacuated as a precaution.

Residents have been allowed to return, but the Sheriff’s Office said the slope that gave way remains vulnerable to future movement. Lincoln County Public Works said it would monitor the area for changing conditions.

Officials said Fall Creek Rd. would likely remain closed at milepost 2.5 due to the damage until sometime in the spring.
